about

Join us as we celebrate ancient stones and sacred sites . In this iteration of GráNITE we welcome Shannon Patterson and Katrina Sheena Smyth.

Shannon Patterson, known otherwise as “rose_may_scribble” is an illustrator from Derry. Her artist talk will take the audience through the journey of the Sheela-na-gig’s of Ireland, their influence on society, and how feminism today reflects a growing interest into Ireland’s mythological past. Are we seeing a newer, more inclusive Celtic revival?

I am wild, I blow with the wind.
I shriek too with their nightly cries.
My roots are embedded, tangled, and toiled.
I share this skin, this body, this Earth incarnation.
Katrina Sheena Smyth (2022)

Dr. Katrina Sheena Smyth is a bardic artist, researcher, and ordained Bean Feasa (Priestess) of the Sacred Land. Their artistic work is rooted in Druidic philosophy and practice, where art making becomes a merging with Imbas, as a ritualistic act of creative flow that embraces intuitive moments of expanding with nature and space. For GráNITE they will share a performance involving elements of meditation, storytelling, sound and song.
