Black Box Projects.
Black Box Projects is a wide-reaching outreach & engagement programme for and by people who identify as disabled, and/or have additional support requirements including mobility and/or mental health support. There are opportunities to connect with us weekly, monthly or on a drop-in basis depending on your individual interests. We adopt the Social Model of Disability and believe in removing barriers, promoting inclusion and supporting people to make decisions about how they live their lives.
Monthly
Gig Buddies
Gig Buddies is a Black Box Project supported by Belfast City Council. The project pairs adults with learning disabilities and/or autism with volunteers based on their shared interests to attend monthly events together. Gig Buddies helps people to feel more confident attending local venues and empowered to make decisions about how they want to socialise, helping them to enjoy all the great events happening in their community.
The project also endeavours to make volunteering easier as volunteers attend gigs they would already be going to, but with their Gig Buddy! This helps volunteers to share their interests with a new friend and easily manage volunteering alongside their other commitments.

Black Moon
Club night for and by adults with learning disabilities .
£5 entry with free *PA tickets
*PA = Personal Assistant / Support Worker, Career, Parent/ Family member who is supporting you to attend.
Black Moon is a night for and by adults with learning disabilities run by the Black Box arts venue. The event provides an authentic night out experience giving people a chance to socialise in a cool, modern environment, meet new people, have a dance and have a laugh! With live DJs, moving visuals and bar. The night is on from 7pm to 10pm. Over 18’s Only. Please drink responsibly

Once a week
Express Yourself! Weekly workshops
The Express Yourself! – Social Café-style session that meets every week on a Tuesday afternoon 2-4 pm at the Black Box. The project provides a wide range of arts-based activities and workshops. Topics and ideas for themes are decided on and facilitated by group members supported by the Outreach Officer and volunteers.
Sessions usually explore a theme or project over the course of 6-8 weeks often working in collaboration with other organisations or partners. For examples, Moving On Music, Belfast Libraries, Féile An Phobail, EastSide Arts and many more! Sessions usually take place at the Black Box but can also include trips to other locations.
