Women Carers Music Project in parntership with Oh Yeah Music Centre supported by the Tampon Tax

By The Black Box

Women Carers Music Project

The Black Box has been invited as a partner organisation by the Oh Yeah Music Centre to deliver a relaxed, open and interactive music-based project for women and female-identifying carers.

The project is free to attend, no music experience is necessary just an interest in meeting new people and exploring ways of connecting through music!

The project will be lead by you as members of the group supported by experienced women musicians and facilitators.

Date; The project will begin Monday 27th January 2-4pm and take place once a week for twelve weeks. You do not have to attend every session so don’t worry if you have missed one, you can still join in!!

Location; The sessions will take place at the Black Box venue, 18-22 Hill Street, Belfast BT1 2LA.

Session structure; Each session will be structured like this: First half-hour: Tea/Coffee and an opportunity to chat with the rest of the group, then a one hour relaxed Music Workshop which will take on a number of themes/topics/styles determined by the group’s interests and then another half hour for tea/coffee and more opportunity for chat at the end.

Session One: ‘Introduction to Music and Music Making’ with Seonaid Murray.

We will discuss our favourite types of Music – feel free to bring any of your favourite albums with you for a ‘Desert Island Discs’ style session!

Session Two: ‘Dance and Movement’ with Charmaine McMeekin.

Charmaine is one of our most popular facilitators! She always brings a lot of fun, great tunes and creative freedom to her sessions!

Session Three: Tessa Ann from The Sound Healing Spa.

Tessa will bring along ‘singing bowls’ and relaxation techniques to this calming and soothing ‘sound bath’

If you want to bring the person you care for with you, there will be a multi-sensory workshop with adults 18+ with learning disabilities taking place alongside the session in the room next door. If you are unable to attend due to your caring responsibilities please get in contact and we can see what we can arrange to enable you to attend.

If you are interested in finding out more, registering for the project, or want to ask any questions, please email Seonaid at [email protected] or give us a call! 02890244400
