By The Black BoxWe were delighted to be nominated for the Consumer Facing category for social enterprises which produce or deliver a retail product or service and have strong brand recognition in the market place and to be awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ place, just second after the winners, Ortus! The Black Box is a charity and puts any of our profits back into running projects such as Black Moon – events for and by people with learning disabilities. Social enterprises are businesses that trade to tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. They make their money from selling goods and services in the open market, but they reinvest their profits back into the business or the local community. And so when they profit, society profits.
