about
“Martin Guy is an emerging DJ with an ear for groove. With a background in live samba percussion, rhythm plays a central role in his approach to music.
Martin has been curating small nights throughout Belfast over the past year that seamlessly combine his love of house, electronic, live music, and more. This love formed the basis of his first event, “Machine Yearning”, which saw electronic pioneers Protocol, Deep Division, and Klark Bent rub shoulders with Belfast-based Beat’n’Drum samba band. An unwavering admiration for Kate Bush, on the other hand, saw him curate “Sounds of Love”, which brought the die-hard fans out from the woodworks to a packed-out Green Room in March.
Martin is set to return to the Green Room on June 14th with “Toque Brasileiro”, a deep dive into Latin groove, percussive house, and Brazilian obscurities straight from the heart of the favelas.
Entering the musical fray via The Black Box’s own “Open Decks” series, Martin is quietly carving out his own space in Belfast in the hope of sharing his passion for music with the wider community.”
