McGrath is an Irish artist and songwriter, currently living in Belfast. Discovered in his native Donegal, playing in a local pub, he sings songs about drinking stout with his dad, the arrival of the horsemen of the apocalypse and the ups and downs of Rotha Mór an tSaoil (that’s ‘the Great Wheel of Life’). His voice and sharp-witted lyricism caught the ears of George Ezra who invited him to open for him in 2025, as well as earning him a slot at the fabled Ruby Sessions in Dublin. He released his debut single ‘Rotha’ in April, followed by ‘Burn Daylight’ June 18. 

About the night: I’m getting a few good mates together for what should be a wonderful night’s craic + music in @theblackboxbelfast Green Room on the 20th June. It’s just for you if you like that sort of thing. It’ll be me (McGrath), @james_mccabe02 and @nellmeagher performing and we’re calling it The Sásta Sessions (mar tá mé sásta). It’s free! About the support acts:

Hamish is a Belfast-based musician bringing some new original music to the stage for the first time. His upcoming debut album, recorded entirely in his living room with a little help from his closest friends, is a collection of songs taking inspiration from The Beatles, Bon Iver, Joni Mitchell & Dijon. Tonight’s show is an early glimpse of the record before it finds its way into the world in September of this year.

My name is NELL. I am a musician from Donegal, based in Belfast. I released my debut EP, ‘SEEDS’ in June 2024, exploring the ups and downs of growing up and leaving home. I am inspired by a variety of music from Billie Holiday to Lorde, with my biggest lyrical inspiration coming from Julia Jacklin.
