about
‘Gaslight’
Horror in Cinema and Etymology
These images were originally created for ‘The Ghouls on Film’ zine, an article and photo feature with the theme of ‘Lunacy and Hysteria’, inspired by female-driven horror films.
These pieces are a visual interpretation of the psychological state of protagonist Bella in Thorold Dickenson’s 1940 adaption of ‘Gaslight’. Each image has been developed and evolved with ethereal and textured elements, using mixed media software and digital photography.
The film’s title is the origin of the now universal, psychological term, ‘gaslighting.’
