The Body & Blood – Live
The Body & Blood is a 19th Century Irish Famine folk fable written and told in verse by the artist, writer, and filmmaker Carol Murphy. It is the story of the fall and fall of Maggie Murtagh, an Irish country girl who transmogrifies into The Vigilante Cannibal Nun. She steals from the rich to give to the starving poor. She eats her victims; becomes an addict; and destroys her soul. The Body & Blood was launched online in five films at thebodyandblood.co.uk in January 2022.
On Sunday 15th May 2022, The Body & Blood will be performed, live by Carol Murphy in The Green Room, at The Black Box.

“This is the season of The Vigilante Cannibal Nun. Her name is Maggie Murtagh and she’s made an online visitation from the Irish famine, feasting on the raw innards of clergy, nobility, and English soldiers. She wears hip-hop bling and commits heretical acts. She channels trauma and terror and often, she’s as funny as all get-out.” Stuart Bailey, Dig With It, Issue 7
