about
Are you SAFE? Are you HEALTHY? Are you the SPIRIT OF DARK AND LONELY WATER?
Join us for a special night of uncanny paranoia as we consider how even our private domiciles can become death traps, and how our prim and proper lives of comfort can slowly be killing us.
Todd Haynes’ SAFE considers Environmental Illness, a hard to classify allergy to the outside world. For Julianne Moore’s Carol, how does this affect her affluent existence and invade her dreamlike suburbia?
Before the feature we will screen a selection of classic public information films, reminding you that danger lurks everywhere and that you should be SAFE wherever you go.
In collaboration with Normal Cinema Club, join us for a unique screening of Todd Haynes’ Safe (1995).
Doors at 6pm, event start 6:30pm.
Ghouls on Film is a monthly feminist horror film club, showing films that challenge the representations of women within the genre. Expect cult classics, independent releases and rare lesser-known films that explore how women can find agency in the world of horror.
Supported by Film Hub NI, part of the BFI Film Audience Network, awarding funds from National Lottery.
