Normal Cinema Club is rounding out the year not by embracing seasonal goodwill, but welcoming with open arms the subdued/somber/melancholy/miserable feeling that only comes this time of year.
The Coen Brothers’ INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS is the story of the titular Llewyn Davis, a down-on-his-luck songwriter, struggling to make a buck, find somewhere to rest his head and keep a hold of his cat. We follow Llewyn as he pursues artistic greatness, and witness the folly of doing so – is art possible in a world driven by sales? Set in the folk scene of New York in the 1960s, this Winter’s Tale paints the definitive portrait of a struggling artist, laced with the Coen’s trademark black humour and absurd stylings. Featuring friend of the club Bob Dylan, our final screening of the year is not one to be missed.
Before the feature, we will also screen JOE PERA HELPS YOU FIND THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS TREE, a gentle wintry film to balm the soul, perhaps even warm the cockles of your heart.
Doors will open at 6.30pm, with the first films beginning shortly after 7pm. There will be a short break before the feature. This is a strictly 18+ event.
