My Dearest Friend, 

I am writing to offer you my sincerest condolences. I gather the sad intelligence of the death of our dear Agnes has not yet reached you. From what we have since gathered, she departed this life last Wednesday. She had fallen ill, become quiet delirious in the evenings leading to that day, something was troubling her from beyond the grave. I must confess this news may be peculiar, I wish I could spare you such misery. 

As I write today, I solemnly invite you to attend the reading of dear Agnes’ last will and testament, at seven o’clock at Eighteen and Twenty one, The Whiskey Bottlers on Hill Street, Belfast on all Hallows Eve. The near and dear family of Agnes will attend the hearing.

I feel a great reluctance in troubling you with such news, in that it has been some time since I wrote, but I must urge you, all is not what it seems with the passing of dear Agnes. The strangeness in Agnes’ passing may be closer than you think.

I cannot speak much more on the subject until we meet, I warn you, speak of this to no one.
