about

Irish Independent Record Label ‘Mighty Good Leader’ present an intimate Sunday evening listening experience of Acoustic Slowcore / Indie Folk Music with performances from ‘How R U’ and ‘Theo Bleak. This will be a very special night and one not to miss. There are limited tickets available so be sure to grab yours soon.

Headlining the event is How R U, the Belfast based Slowcore Indie Folk side project of Irish Singer-Songwriter and Producer Thom Southern. Though formally launched in late April 2024, the How R U project has swiftly carved out its own quiet space.  Drawing from over a year of Lo-Fi, DIY exploration, How R U has already shared stages with Evan Dando of The Lemonheads, celebrated a sold-out hometown headline show in Belfast and performed at this year’s acclaimed Belfast Shoegaze Festival ‘GAZEFEST’ 2025. How R U’s introspective soundscapes resonate on streaming platforms with hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners and amassing millions of streams. With this project Thom Southern channels a markedly slower, softer dimension of his writing and production, taking cues from artists like Duster, Elliott Smith, Sparklehorse and (Sandy) Alex G. Strum Magazine captured this essence, noting: ‘how r u is an Irish musician who weaves some of the most delicate, enchanting slowcore lullabies in the scene. His soft voice, delicate guitar lines and introspective lyrics will linger in your mind long after the final note fades.’

Support for the evening comes from Scottish Singer-Songwriter Theo Bleak, the musical project of Katie Lynch. The Dundee-based artist is well known for her atmospheric and deeply introspective sound and has been credited as a philosophical alternative with folk influences. Since debuting with ‘Fragments’, Theo Bleak has been celebrated for her ability to weave personal experiences into songs that resonate deeply with listeners. Her work draws inspiration from diverse sources, including alternative rock, emo, and visual storytelling, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and refreshingly unique. She is currently set to release a new mixtape, expected in Autumn 2025.
