Thursday the 3rd of October Life After Art is back with the incredible George Houston Playing his first show on Irish soil since returning from touring the USA, opening for the one and only Paul Weller.
George is supported by the wonderful Vera plus more music and comedy, yet to be announced.
Hailing from the depths of rural Ireland, alternative Donegal singer songwriter George Houston was raised on classic folk, pop and rock from his parents’ vast collection of CDs and vinyl. Always encouraged to listen and play freely with his instruments, George developed a natural timeless sound, a voice beyond his years, and a songwriting style sprinkled with uninspired nostalgia.
Starting his music career in September 2020 with his bold debut single Boo Fucking Hoo, this track had instant local success, pushing George to record his first album Cold Toast at the young age of 19. This has been followed by his second and third studio albums, ‘Undesired’ and ‘Vehicular Suicide’, with the following years cementing his distinctive sound with brooding vocals, airy harmonies and candid lyrics.
George has grown a large international audience from the viral reaction to In Aeternum Vive which placed in Glastonbury’s long list, as well as gaining attention of acclaimed artist Declan McKenna who gave George his first play on BBC Radio One, and international legend Paul Weller, who invited George to open for his sold-out Irish Tour.
With a strong live reputation, the electric pop artist has had the opportunity to play Body & Soul, Earagail Arts Festival, and a sold-out Irish Tour, and has also had the pleasure of supporting sold out shows for Joshua Burnside, Duke Special, Tramp, and the amazing Hothouse Flowers.
VERA blends a modern Indie sound with elements of groove and soul, retro pop, and rock all underpinned by the raw and powerful vocal of Sarah Toner. Filled with style, drama and a healthy dose of sarcasm, VERA cover every possible pitfall of modern love presenting a refreshingly cynical version of being a hopeless romantic.
