Hat Fitz and Cara Album Launch.
about

Fitz and Cara, two of Australia’s most captivating roots music artists, have spent over 15
years crafting their sound, captivating audiences across the globe, and leaving a trail of
soulful melodies wherever they go. From festival stages to intimate venues, this husband-
and-wife duo has released five critically acclaimed albums—and now, they’re back with
something truly special.
Hat Fitz and Cara are happy to be presenting their new album “The Couch Sessions LIVE” in
the authentic settings of the Black Box Theatre. Their music is seeped in deep Hill Country
Blues with a Convict Rhythm and Roots feel from their combined heritage (AUS) and (IRE).
They have on this album launch the Hammond organ talents of John McCullough (from the
Legend Sinead O’ Conor, Van Morrison, The Waterboys and many more) They will have a
few guests up their sleeves no doubt. Their Banter on stage and electricity between each
other may have you in tears of laughter while their music may touch the tender parts of
your hearts.
Their sixth album, “The Couch Sessions Live,” invites listeners into the heart of their
creative world. Recorded in the cozy confines of their stunning hinterland home in South East
Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, this project captures the warmth, raw energy, and unfiltered
authenticity that define their live performances.
Joined by the extraordinary Andrew Szumowski, affectionately known as “The Mouse,” and
guided by the expert engineering of Paulie B and Steve from Yama Nui Studios, the album
unfolds like a heartfelt conversation between friends. Filmed by Justin Brown of Brown Dog
Productions, the visuals bring you even closer to the duo’s world, offering a glimpse of their
artistry in its purest form.
“The Couch Sessions Live” isn’t just an album—it’s an experience. Each note carries the
warmth of their home, the passion of their performances, and the deep connection they share
with their audience. This is roots music at its most honest, raw, and utterly enchanting.
Their festival touring circuit takes in Australia, the UK, North America and Europe where
their modern blend of old-timey-influenced sounds is equally at home in a variety of
settings from folk or Americana main stages to blues and acoustic venues. While the
singer/songwriters are both multi-instrumentalists, it’s Fitzy’s weathered vocals and soaring
blues-soaked guitar combined with Cara’s pounding drums and soulful honey coated voice
that show them at the peak of their creative power.
Winners of Blues Album Of The Year at the 2013 Australian Chain Awards and UK Spiral
Earth, Hat Fitz & Cara also won Best Vocal Of The Year at the 2015 Chain Awards and were
finalists in the 2015 Memphis International Blues Challenge in the USA.
We are delighted to have Shannon born David Hope opening up for us on this night
The Sea is the fifth studio album release by Irish singer-songwriter, David Hope. Both lyrically and musically, this is the deepest dive that Hope has taken into his songwriting and recording. Through capturing a mix of raw emotional acoustic tracks and full band epics, this makes for his most complete album to date.
