about
Black Belfast Tour: 2.30pm – 5pm
Film screening: Doors at 6pm, film to start at 6.30pm
Set in 1960, The Devil’s Doorway (Aislinn Clarke, 2018) centres on a pair of priests dispatched to a Magdelene laundry to authenticate a series of potentially miraculous occurrences. Taking the sub-genre of found footage to an entirely new level, Aislinn Clarke’s first feature draws on the real trauma that a generation of women still carry with them to explore its haunting ramifications.
For this special event, we are collaborating with Alternative Ulstours’ Andrew Johnston, who will be leading us on a devilishly informative and shockingly entertaining walking tour of Belfast’s Linen Quarter prior to the screening, from 2.30pm – 5pm. Andrew approaches each tour with an extensive amount of research, and sensitively manages difficult topics, ensuring to focus on the story of any survivors or victims without romanticising criminals.
