Despite earning Isabelle Adjani the award for Best Actress at its debut at Cannes, Possession was quickly banned in the UK after its release, and included on the list of ‘video nasty’ outlawed cassettes. The film is ranked in the top 250 ‘Greatest Films of All Time’ by Sight & Sound, and is cited as a ‘divorce-horror’ pulling from the central plot of Anna and Mark’s (played by a young Sam Neil) disintegrating marriage; but the discoveries Mark uncovers about his wife’s infidelity is more bizarre than you could ever imagine.

Possession” is one of those films you will either love or hate, but which you will never ever forget, no matter how much some of you may wish that you could.
