about
Both heart-wrenchingly poetic and deeply disturbing, the French horror classic ‘Eyes Without A Face/Les Yeux sans visage’ (1960) follows an obsessive surgeon and his quest to possess beauty. Often cited as one of the greatest horror films ever made, it marked the resurgence of the macabre French thriller, and went on to inspire films such as ‘The Skin I Live In’ (Pedro Almodovar, 2011). It’s a dark exploration of female isolation and trauma, revealing the horror of society’s everlasting obsession with beauty.
