about

Alternative-country rising star George Houston returns to the Black Box, this time with his very own headline show. Support From Indie singer/songwriter Sarah Toner and German duo Romie.

ROMIE

Don’t miss a soul soothing and heartwarming evening with Germany’s best kept secret. ROMIE – that are the songwriters Julie and Paula – deliver divine harmonies, strong lyrics and fresh indie folk in duo, trio or full band formation (Romie & Safe Haven). FFO: Simon and Garfunkel, The Staves, Fleetwood Mac, The Milk Carton Kids, Feist, The Civil Wars, Joan Baez.

SARAH TONER

Irish singer-songwriter Sarah Toner seamlessly blends unshielded lyrics with her rich and raw vocals creating an indie style that isn’t pastiche. Vulnerability and boundary pushing are at the centre of the world Sarah has been secretly creating in the studio with producer Declan Legge (Jealous of the Birds) and co-writer Ciaran Lavery. After the release of her debut single Sarah featured on BBC Across The Line and was Hotpress Track of the Day. FFO: WetLeg/Big Thief/Julia Jacklin

GEORGE HOUSTON

Irish singer songwriter George Houston since the release of his two studio albums has been recognised for his distinctive nostalgic sound with rich vocals, twinkling synths and booming bass. With genres like americana, vintage pop and folk rock being strong influences to the musician; he looked to artists like Leanord Cohen, Kate Bush, Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie as inspirations for his alternative folk sound. Since George started his performance career he has been known to wow and engage the audience to make the largest of shows feel intimate. Accompanied with his band bragging Steamy McCay on Drums(TRAMP, Foreign Owl) Rachel Craig on Guitar, Malcolm Boyd on Bass(Happy Out) and Kate Houston on Keys, a night of The Undesired Tour is one not to be missed.
