From Victim to Vixen kicks off with this first introductory talk of the project. This project is to get people talking about mental health, emotional health, and social health, in a chill and accessible environment that de-stigmatises the issue. Northern Ireland has a huge mental health crisis; waiting lists of over a year, outdated care, far away clinics, unhelpful and out of touch GPs. This talk series aims to get help, advice and support out to people in a way that works for them. Mental health help but with no stress, no judgement, no wait, and no abstract theory. Just advice and tips of the trade that help you straight away. The project is a passion project of creator Rachel Blythe, someone who has struggled with their mental health and struggled to get care through the mental health system in Northern Ireland for a decade. Coming out of that struggle and coming out on the other side, Rachel wants to share what she has learnt and wants to help bridge the gap to the other side for other people in Belfast. All whilst having some fun and a pint at the same time. This first talk will be an introduction into taking control of your mental and emotional health, with emphasis on accountability, radical gratitude, self care, and some more interactive activities based around affirmations and breaking negative thinking patterns.
