Composer Ed Bennett presents a new incarnation of his renowned Decibel Ensemble to premiere a new commission ‘All Earth Once Drowned’ with texts by NI poet Cherry Smyth.
Through a combination of music and spoken word, this work will address some of the most pertinent environmental issues of our time in a collective call for action. Bennett will utilise Irish and UK musicians of international standing in a 10-piece ensemble to create a deeply personal music in response to Smyth’s texts and the wider environmental problems we face as a planet.
Cherry Smyth will perform with the ensemble interweaving her texts throughout this expansive composition ranging from music of huge energy and rage to quiet and delicate introspection.
This new work was commissioned by Moving on Music with support from Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
