about

CQ Big Comedy Weekender Presents: Chris Kent & Friends

We’re not sure if they’re actually friends, or just pretending, but either we’ll let them come and tell jokes.

Adam Byrne: Adam Byrne has been doing Stand up for just under 3 years. He has been persistent in stand up, meaning he doesn’t understand social ques and when to quit. He has gigged in Edinburgh, New York and most recently Austin Texas he’ll probably tell you he’s been just let him speak for 5 minutes. He also doing his first solo show in October to a sold out crowd in the Sunflower. He has also gigged in the Empire, Laverys comedy club and The Limelight.

James Kegney: James McKegney is a Northern Irish stand-up comedian with seven years of experience performing both live and online. He has taken the stage at major venues including the Grand Opera House, the Ulster Hall, and the Telegraph Building, and has supported leading acts such as Shane Todd and Colin Geddis. Known for viral content like the Priests at Pride series, James is also a regular guest on Tea With Me, Shane Todd’s globally streamed podcast.

Tiff Minson: Tiff Minson is very British, but she’s also very sorry about it. As a historian, she is well aware of what she’s sorry for. Having just celebrated her third stand up anniversary, Tiff is in her second year living and performing in Belfast and has most recently brought her observational comedic stylings to the stage at the Empire, the Accidental Theatre, and as far afield as Antrim.

Luke McGibbon: Luke McGibbon has been writing and performing stand-up comedy in Northern Ireland for over a decade, and his role as a comedic journeyman becomes clearer with each passing year. Luke McGibbon has appeared on BBCNI’s stand-up from the sunflower, podcasts such as Word Up and No Blasters, and has written for BBCNI’s the Blame Game.

Chris Kent: Hailing from ‘The Rebel County’ (That’s Cork for anyone outside Ireland!), Chris gave up the day job as an electrician, to pursue his calling in comedy. Having shared the stage with the likes of Bill Burr, Dylan Moran, David O’ Doherty, PJ Gallagher and Neil Delamare, Chris himself is en route to becoming a household name. His festival appearances include The Kilkenny Cat Laughs, The Vodafone Comedy festival, The Galway Comedy festival, Electric Picnic, and many more on the Irish scene. He has had a number of successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and performed at the Irish comedy Festival Dubai 2014 along with other international appearances with his show Corked. His most recent Edinburgh appearance was in 2015 with Stop Stalling. T.V. appearances include, the RTÉ 2 panel show Next Year’s News, and The Craig Doyle Show. In the UK, he has appeared on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central for Comedy Central.

Please note as CQ Big Comedy Weekender is a Cathedral Quarter wide event, this even will not be taking place in The Black Box, it is UPSTAIRS IN THE SUNFLOWER PUBLIC HOUSE 65 Union St, Belfast BT1 2JG
