On Friday 27th May 2022, Chordblossom are taking over both the Main Room and the Green Room for what is set to be a huge night for live music and who knows there might even be a slice of cake or two…We are thrilled to say that our stacked line-up features Wynona Bleach, ROE, Travi the Native, Jealous of the Birds, Tour Alaska, Ferna, Thom Southern and Girl For Sale.
If you’ve been with us for a while, you’ll know all about our love for Wynona Bleach. They got their hooks in us under the guise of R51 all the way back in 2013 and are yet to let go. The release of their debut album, Moonsoake, in February 2022 marked the highpoint of their journey so far and is a phenomenal listen. Yet it is their live show that never disappoints and we are expecting them to tear up the Black Box for us with their brand of hazy alt-rock.
Roisin Donald aka ROE popped up on our radar way back in 2016 and since then we’ve seen her take huge strides from a largely unknown artist to one at the forefront of our music scene. We’ve been lucky enough to offer up several premieres of her music over the years and we are excited to bring her down to Belfast and hopefully get a sneak peak at the new material rumoured to be for her debut album.
Travi the Native
Travis Gilbert has been in and around the scene for a while now. Whether it was in the energetic indie outfit Colly Strings or under Travis Is A Tourist, his star has always been one to watch. His latest moniker Travi the Native has brought a new impetus and energy to proceedings and has ensured his stock continues to rise. Soulful alt-pop is the order of the day and there are few better at their craft at present.
Jealous of the Birds
Naomi Hamilton burst onto the scene back in 2015 with the unforgettable Goji Berry Sunset and has never looked back. Two albums later and signed to Atlantic Records sees Jealous of the Birds as one of our biggest recent success stories. We were fortunate that she played her debut show for us in TBWNN (Auntie Annies) and we are delighted she’s getting the band together to celebrate both our journeys to date.
Tour Alaska is the brainchild of former A Plastic Rose frontman, Gerry Norman. The catchy but defiant alt rock has given way to a more mellow and mature output but Norman’s tendency to strike a strong song writing narrative remains. This new sound might not be what we’re used to but it’s a refreshing reboot for a man so intensely linked to the Belfast music scene.
Ferna marks the latest chapter in Hannah McPhillimy’s musical journey. Our first interaction left a lasting impression and her spell binding live performances continue to impress. Under Ferna, her musical talents continue to flourish and while there is a more of an electronic feel to proceedings this time round, the heartfelt emotions remain on show.
After years of serving up dreamy indie anthems with his sister Lucy in both Southern and then MMODE, it was time for Thom to branch out on his own. Under his own name, we dart more into shoe-gazed inspired rock with plenty of fuzzy guitars in the mix for good measure.
Girl For Sale
Girl For Sale is the vessel for Candice Cathers’ musical output. A beautiful debut EP captured the attention of the critics and left us pining for more of that lo-fi indie pop that isn’t afraid to bare its soul. We are especially thrilled to have Candice and her band on the line-up as it will mark their debut live performance and shouldn’t be missed.
