Black Moon6 June, 2023 @7:00pm £5 (Free PA Tickets), The Black Box
A concert celebrating a decade of doing music together as “Celtic Psalms” (Kiran Young Wimberly & The McGraths). Since 2013 we have arranged Psalms set to Celtic (Irish/Scottish) airs, along with the renowned trad musician and producer Dónal O’Connor. In the last decade we have recorded four albums, traveled to the US on four tours, performed live on BBC and RTE national television and radio multiple times, shared our music at international conferences, sung in many intimate concerts in sacred and secular venues in Northern Ireland and the Republic, and been published by the global sacred music publisher GIA. See www.celticpsalms.com for more about our music to date.
This event, sponsored generously by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland/The Lottery Fund, will also mark the beginning of a new chapter: we are launching “Celtic Pilgrims,” a nonprofit Community Interest Company dedicated to connecting communities through music. Our group is by nature cross community, and the purpose of our music has always been to create beautiful sacred music in the traditional Celtic (Irish/Scottish) style that might bring people together across community divides. To that end, we have set up Celtic Pilgrims CIC to intentionally connect people through musical gatherings that are open to all communities.
This is a very special evening that will celebrate Celtic Psalms music of the last decade, and will also launch a new chapter of Celtic Pilgrims – connecting communities, building bridges, promoting social healing, and finding common ground through the beauty, depth, and power of music.
