MCS are delighted to announce we will be hosting a fundraising event which aims to raise awareness of Breast Cancer in NI. Donations will go to Make 2nds Counts, a patient and family focused charity, dedicated to giving hope to women and men living with incurable /Secondary Breast Cancer (SBC).
The night will start at 5pm, with a welcome drink and nibbles provided, followed by four talks, and then live music from local DJ, Pete Snodden. There will also be a few stalls to browse which will include natural, paraben free beauty products.
There will be a ballot on the night with proceeds going to support the “Seen to be Heard” campaign (Advocacy through Art) which seeks to improve Breast Cancer services in NI. Prizes will include 2 tickets to Crumlin Road Goal, a family photoshoot, a case of wine and much more…
On the night you will hear from the below inspiring women:
1. Cheryl Graham
Who will share her story. Cheryl was diagnosed 12 years ago with Primary Breast Cancer but is now living with a terminal prognosis having now developed Stage 4/SBC. Cheryl actively campaigns for better services for those living with SBC and was the “face” of the recent “Seen to be Heard” exhibition.
2. Dr. Ethna McFerran
Who has over a decade of experience in oncology clinical practice and research. The focus of her talk will be on Primary Breast Cancer, highlighting symptoms to look out for and how to effectively self examine.
3. Alicia Ferguson
Alicia is a complementary therapist and currently works with Action Cancer. She will talk about the use of complementary therapies and how they can be used to improve well being in tandem with traditional medicine.
4. Amanda Donaldson
Amanda is joining us from Make 2nds Count and will share information on the charities work, secondary symptoms to look out for and provide in formation on the ‘Tea and Chats’ Support Group.
It is set to be an inspiring, informative and of course fun night, and we can’t wait to welcome you all.
