If I can’t dance to it, it’s not my revolution! Join us for the best fundraiser of the year to raise money for Rally for Choice and Alliance for Choice!
Rally for Choice are raising money so that we can pull off the best rally that Belfast has ever seen. We need funds so that we can promote our rally, pay for the cost of having it, and make sure that we are kitted out on the day with t-shirts, flags and banners. We are a grassroots organisation and receive no funding and need all we can get from our fundraising efforts!
We believe that change happens on the streets before it reaches parliament and if we want to see a change in the law it has to come from us. No one is going to give us our rights, we have to take them.
We want to spur people into action through grassroots agitating and organising; to make every person who agrees in a pregnant person’s right to choose into an agitator and organiser.
Movements create change, come and be a part of ours.
If you’d like to you can donate to us here on our crowdfunder: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/rally-for-choice-2017/
Alliance for Choice are feeling the effects of a lack of a functioning Assembly in NI and the prospective of a period of direct rule from Westminster, coupled with the Tory – DUP coalition and the championing of abortion rights by Labour MP Stella Creasy, has motivated us to attend the Labour Party Conference to inform delegates about the need for free, safe and legal abortion in NI. We need to remove criminal sanctions for those with no option but to access abortion pills online and consider those left behind by this moment of progress.
How the funding will be spent:
We need to raise £2,000 to continue to keep the issue of abortion on the political agenda. It will be used to have a stall and three volunteers at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton 24th-27th September. Once there we can lobby MP’s to trust women to make decisions that are best for them and their families, and to inform and educate those with power in the UK for the need for suitable abortion legislation in NI and the need for the immediate removal of criminal penalties.
How this will benefit the community:
We are aiming to change legislation in NI in order to provide women (also trans* men and non-binary people) with safe, legal abortions at home without the stress, stigma, cost and possible prosecution caused by the current legal situation. There are many women and girls still unable to travel despite abortion now being free in the UK e.g. women in domestic violence relationships, BME women with insecure immigration status, women with serious health problems, and those with disabilities.
So join us for a bit of craic, and all for a great cause!
Doors will open at 7.30 and it’s £5 in!
