Full Bap Cabaret
Wednesday 26th April
8pm (Doors 7.30)
2017 is pretty messed up so far right. What the world needs now is art. Not, pretty distraction but angry, challenging dangerous art. A voice for the disaffected, a challenge to the dominant narrative and a break from relentless manipulation. We need a new scene.
The Half Bap is an old name for the Cathedral Quarter, so named because the people who lived there could only afford half a Belfast Bap. We’ll NOT be a high end cabaret with top hats and velvet curtains, in the true spirit of cabaret we’ll be alternative, rowdy and of the people.
We will celebrate new and established artists in an informal cabaret set up in the spirit of experimentation and alternative view points. In the face of local and international bullshit we are creating a safe space to foster alternative art forms and build a community of artistic resistance. And we plan to have a good laugh doing it.
After two Half Baps, we thought it was time to splash out on a Full Bap. A bigger line up, a bigger room and a bigger riot. Joining compare Graeme Watson at our first Full Bap Cabaret will be the dreadlocked warbler Duke Special, chaos magician George Firehorse, tuneful comic Teresa Livingstone, mind blowing contortionist Spinal Gap and all the way from Dublin, reformed Eurovisoiner Molly Sterling.
There will be games, there will be audience participation, there will be craic, but there won’t be no velvet curtains.
