Foley Room is a short documentary by Mairanne Allard that follows the making of Amon Tobin’s 2007 album of the same name. Inspired by the Foley rooms where sound effects are recorded for films, Tobin and a team of assistants headed out into the streets of Montreal with high sensitivity microphones and recorded found sounds from tigers roaring, to cats eating rats, neighbours singing in the bath to ants eating grass. Tobin also called upon The Kronos Quartet, Stefan Schneider and Sarah Pagé to record samples for the record.
We are delighted to follow the screening with a live performance from This Ship Argo. This Ship Argo is an electronic two piece combining droning synth lines with layered vocal melodies to create continually evolving songs exploring the juxtaposition of the abject and the beautiful.
